As part of their present History topic, Seahorses and Starfish classes spent an exciting day at Beamish Open Air Museum.
They experienced a lesson in the Victorian school room led by a very stern school master! Writing on a slate proved very challenging! I think the children realised how lucky they are to live in the present not the past!
The pit village showed the children what life was like without our modern day amenities as they watched ladies baking using a coal fired range and tried their hands at cleaning the rug by using a carpet beater.
Children, staff and volunteer helpers all had a great day!
