At Bowburn Infant and Nursery School we consult with a wide range of agencies and partnerships to ensure the pastoral, medical and social needs of SEND children are met.
The school employs a full time parent support advisor (PSA) who is available to support families and children during the school day. There are three members of staff who are trained in delivering a ‘Communicating with Children’ programme. This enables the school to provide one to one support to children who present with social or emotional needs.
The school works closely with the school nurse service to meet the medical needs of all pupils in our care. This work can include: whole staff training, writing medical plans, meeting parents and carers and will invite specialist nurses into school to deliver training and share information.
Staff meet regularly to discuss the individual needs of children to make sure all staff working with the children understand their needs.
