This half term, we are focussing parts of our learning around ‘On the Way Home’, by Jill Murphy
In English, we have been using ‘On the Way Home’ to inspire our fiction and non-fiction writing. We will be learning how to up-level our writing by using noun phrases, contractions and conjunctions. For our non-fiction writing, we will be focussing on writing a non-chronological report.
This half-term’s Maths focus is addition, subtraction and money. We will be learning how to use column addition and subtraction to add and subtract two 2-digit numbers. We will also be learning about the value of each British coin and how to make different amounts.
In Science, we are exploring plants. We are going to look at the different parts that make up a plant and learn how they grow most effectively. We will observe several plants grow in different conditions and evaluate which way is the most effective.
The illustrations of Jill Murphy will be inspiring our artwork this half term as we will be learning about illustration and how to improve our drawing and painting skills.
In P.E., we will be looking at gymnastics; we will make different actions, balances and rolls to perform as part of a routine.
Our PSHE focus this half term is how to stay safe, in and out of school. Our main focus is how to stay safe in our local environment.
