This half term, we are focussing parts of our learning around ‘A day in The Life of Bob’ by Simon Bartram.
In English, we will use ‘A day in The Life of Bob’ to inspire our fiction and non-fiction writing. We will be learning how to make our writing more interesting by using adjectives and conjunctions.
This half-term’s Maths focus is place value, addition and subtraction. We will be learning our numbers up to 100 and practising addition and subtraction using objects and mental strategies.
In Science, we are learning about what humans and animals need to stay alive and healthy. Some of our lessons will focus on what a healthy, balanced meal looks like as well as discussing the importance of personal hygiene.
In History, we are looking at pioneers and explorers. Our focus is Neil Armstrong and Christopher Columbus. We will explore why there are significant individuals and what impact they made on History.
In Art, we are focusing on an artist called Giuseppe Arcimboldo who creates fruit faces to reflect different seasons of the year. The children are going to design and create their own fruit faces which are inspired by this artist.
In P.E., we will be looking at ‘Families of Actions’ as part of gymnastics. We will explore how to make different actions and shapes with our bodies and develop this by putting them into a sequence.
Our PSHE focus this half term is on maintaining good relationships. We will explore how our behaviour and emotions can underpin the relationships we have with others and ways in which we can manage these.
