This half term, we are focussing parts of our learning around ‘Captain Abdul’s Pirate School’, by Colin Mcnaughton.

This half-term’s Maths focus is money and measurement. We will be learning how to identify British coins and make different amounts, as well as measuring items in cm.
In Science, we are learning about mini beasts and their habitat. We are going to identify and name mini beasts as well as explore different habitat conditions and the needs of animals.
In History, we are looking at chronology and how daily life has changed over time. We will explore how fashion, features of daily life, schools, classrooms and domestic life has changed and how it has stayed the same across the eras.
In Art, we are focusing on an artist called Giuseppe Arcimboldo who creates fruit faces to reflect different seasons of the year. The children are going to design and create their own fruit faces which are inspired by this artist.
In P.E., we will be looking at ‘clock dance’; we will make different actions that are inspired by clock mechanisms and sequence these together to create our dance routine.
Our PSHE focus this half term is to understand what we are responsible for in our community – in and out of school. We will be looking at what it means to be responsible and the role we have in the community.
