In English, we will use ‘Monkey See, Monkey Do’ by Pie Corbett to inspire our fiction and non-fiction writing. We will be learning how to make our writing more interesting by using adjectives and conjunctions.
This half-term’s Maths focus is fractions, time, measurement and geometry. We will be also be building on previous knowledge of place value from Autumn 1.
In Science, we are learning about suitability of materials and comparing their properties, whilst carrying out scientific investigations.
In History, we are looking The Great Fire of London. At the beginning of this half term the children performed ‘a play in a day’ centred around the events of The Great Fire of London. This launched our topic for this half term and gave the children some information about what had happened.
In Art, we are focusing our learning around The Great Fire of London. We will be creating observational drawings of houses in London in 1666 as well as building and designing these houses from this time.
In P.E., we will be looking at ‘Cat Dance’. The children will generate different actions and movements that represents a house cat. The will perform a routine which symbolises a day in the life of a cat.
Our PSHE focus this half term is understanding what it means to be healthy. We will explore how eating the right foods, brushing our teeth, exercise and rest are all factors in leading a healthy lifestyle.
