This half term, we are focussing parts of our learning around the book ‘On The Way Home’, by Jill Murphy
In Literacy, we will use the book ‘On The Way Home’ to inspire our fiction and we will be looking at different animals to support our non-fiction writing. We will be learning how to up-level our writing by using expanded noun phrases and adverbs. For our non-fiction writing, we will be focussing on writing non-chronological reports.
In Numeracy, we will continue to focus on place value and number. We will be learning different ways to partition and represent numbers, and using these to help us with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also be looking at fractions, measure and capacity.
In Science, we are looking at plants. We will investigate different seeds and how they are germinated. We will look at what conditions different plants need to grow and we will do some practical investigations around this.
In Geography we will be looking at maps of the local area and will be doing some orienteering.
In art we will be looking at the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo to inspire our artwork and also looking at different sculptures in our local area.
In P.E., we will be developing our gymnastics skills and applying these by making our own routines.
Our PSHE focus this half term is how to stay safe, in our local area.
