As part of our re accreditation for our fourth International School Award, the whole school took part in a series of activities based on Nepal. We have a long running Connecting Classrooms partnership with Gladstone Academy in Nepal and we have collaborated in several recent projects.
The children moved around school working with every teacher.
The staff joined in the spirit of the day and wore traditional and modern clothes bought in Nepal.
Mrs Draper led Nepalese dancing in the Hall. Mrs Speight organized Nepalese flag making. Mrs Patrickson showed Buddhist artefacts then the children tried sketching them. She also has Nepalese writing sheets so they could attempt the very unusual script! Miss Jarvis showed the children how to make a wall hanging. Mrs Pearson told stories about Hindu gods and goddesses and the children made traditional lotus flowers. Mrs Mason led the dressing up session using the wide variety of clothes Mrs Fay has bought during many visits to Nepal.
Staff and children had a fantastic day learning about the culture and lifestyle of Nepal.
